Our Labor Day Weekend

I am pretty sure that Elijah saw every. single. one. of his grandparents, aunts, and cousins on Labor Day weekend.

His love tank is STILL on full. What a lucky guy!

We had lots of fun too!

We finally made our first trek to Colorado Springs since the little guy arrived. The first time I tried to drive down there he screamed for 30 minutes {straight} in the car until I turned around. Not a day I would like to remember so moving on..

First up we saw my side of the family for a light lunch {sorry no pictures}.

Then we headed to the first ever Farmer Family Shrimp Boil.

What is a shrimp boil you ask? Good Question.

We really had no clue when David’s aunt asked us to her house for one but hey, we are really up for anything!

Take a look:

First you heat broth in a large pot, bring it to a boil {ha!} and then you add the food.

In our case, it was corn on the cob, sausage, potatoes and of course, SHRIMP!

Then you set the table

There are rolled up towels lining the sides of the tables underneath the white table cloths.

Then you dump big mounts of food on each section of the table for everyone to enjoy.

No utensils needed!

It was SO delicious and fun–the family has decided to make it a tradition. 🙂

On Monday David and I wanted to do something free and fun outdoors. We have a reservoir by our house that we have never been to and thought it would be fun to walk around it and have a picnic.

Before getting there we hit up Sonic for Happy Hour (ever tried a cream slush? DELICIOUS!}.

When we arrived at the gate, the guard informed us that it would be $7 per person to walk around the lake. I understand charging for boaters and fisherman but people who just want to walk around?  Sheesh!

So we changed up our plans, headed to a nearby park with a fountain {not quite a reservoir but free nonetheless} and enjoyed our picnic there.

Later that night we went to David’s Grandpa’s house to see some family from out-of- town.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend and I am so thankful for all the family enjoyed it with.
